“They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. And they loved not their lives, even unto death.” - Rev 12:11
We are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
- Ephesians 2:10
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” - Matthew 22:36-40
Reasons for a poor self-image:
• I play the comparison game.
• I play the "if only" game.
• I believe what others say about me.
• I suffered abuse.
• I confuse a healthy self-worth with pride.
How to change my self-image:
1. Spend time with “lifters”. Avoid “downers”.
2. Be a lifter!
How to be a lifter:
1. See people through God’s eyes.
Rom. 5:8 - “...God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
2. Choose to see the good.
3. Don’t just see the good, say the good.
Col. 4:6 - “Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out.”
